Abstract

An initiative of a major E&P operator on the Black Sea led to the redesign and optimization of completion and stimulation of important offshore carbonate reservoirs. The wells in this study are characterized by low permeability and heterogeneous properties across the layers. These wells have been producing gas and condensate since the 1990s, and the hydrocarbon production must be maximized.

This paper describes overcoming the challenge of redesigning the stimulation fluid systems to create uninterrupted "wormholes" and remove the damage to improve the productivity of the offshore wells.
