Abstract
A customer in Colombia suspended well CPH42 in April 2017 due to lifting losses which were caused by low gas-liquid ratios (GLR). Different technical approaches for recovery and recoverable volumes were evaluated, for example Coiled Tubing gas lift technology, speed string and conversion to a gas injector in the Guadalupe formation. However, economic evaluations of the various approaches considered indicated only marginal results added to a low probability of operational success due to a fish at the top of the 4-1/2 OD liner. Taking all these situations into consideration led to the decision to abandon the well in accordance with Colombian Governmental regulations.
Achieving this requirement would be difficult due to the 3.25-in. restriction in the well, and the need to isolate inside the 7-in. casing.
