Casing-Recovery Solutions
Technology that Adapts, Simplifies, and De-Risks
Weatherford presents the world’s leading compilation of plug-and-abandonment and slot-recovery technologies and expertise—all designed to extend productive well life and maximize asset value before final decommissioning. Weatherford is now the premier, single-source, well-solutions provider with the most reliable, efficient, and incident-free operations in the world.
The Industry’s Most Comprehensive Portfolio for Enhanced Rigtime Efficiencies
Powered by Trident® and Titan® technologies, these exclusive systems feature engineering capable of reaching hidden energy reserves and sustainably abandoning nonproductive wells within complex environments.
Efficiencies for Reduced OPEX
The Weatherford holistic portfolio empowers operators to solve complex problems associated with well abandonment and slot recovery while eliminating multiple runs for enhanced rigtime efficiencies.
The Trident and Titan systems are exclusively designed to cut and recover casing in a single trip and provide the most efficient operation to reduce rigtime and save OPEX.
Trident is the industry-leading, single-trip cut-and-pull system that permits operators to cut and recover casing on demand, maximizing total recovery.
Titan utilizes the Down Hole Power Tool to apply direct pulling force at the stuck point, enabling casing recovery from active formations or those with restrictions due to settled solids—avoiding multiple, expensive, and timing consuming remedial operations.
Flexibility for Unique Challenges
The Weatherford suite of abandonment and slot recovery technologies allow operators to adapt to any down hole challenge. These industry leading technologies feature configurable designs that quickly adapt to solve a wide range of complex scenarios.
The comprehensive portfolio and adaptability of the technology provides the operator flexibility to address any challenges encountered during late life operations.
The flexibility and agility of the Trident system to make multiple cut-and-pulls in the same run and utilize its integrated tension set packer with hydraulically activated spear provides industry leading single-trip efficiencies.
Trident also provides the ability to set bridge plugs in the same run or use a bit to dress cement plugs prior to cutting and recovery operations.
Titan permits unmatched on-demand downhole pulling force at the stuck point, providing the highest probability of a successful casing recovery. The flexibility of Titan offers the assurance of being able to reposition and perform additional cuts without having to pull out of hole.
Engineering that Eliminates Redundancy, Improves Safety, and Lowers Emissions
Revolutionary versatility and single trip efficiency simplifies operations for guaranteed performance while decreasing HSE exposure and lowering carbon emissions.
World-class engineering expertise with worldwide access ensures superior project planning, guidance, and best practices—creating ideal solutions that are purposefully designed to eliminate redundancy, improve safety, and lower emissions.
Integrated technology eliminates redundancy by reducing remedial operations associated with well abandonment and slot recovery operations.
Weatherford improves safety performance with less rigtime handling bottomhole assemblies, tripping less drillpipe, and eliminating the need for remedial activities.
By virtue of reducing rigtime, a lower carbon footprint is attained—directly associated with the work scope is achieved.
Integrated Cut-and-Pull Technology
Trident and Titan technologies form an integrated, single-trip system that reduces trips and drives cost efficiency with safe, repeatable performance.
Trident functionality includes the ability to dress a cement plug, set a bridge plug, perform and verify multiple cuts, and retrieve from 9-5/8 in. and 10-3/4 in., all in a single trip.
The Titan System maximizes the recoverable casing in challenging circumstances by utilizing the pulling capacity of the Downhole Power Tool and adding repeatable casing cutting capability. This includes for casing recovery in openhole, high-angle wells, or in wells with partial or old cement, formation shift or casing degradation.
By running the DHPT and keeping all tensile forces off the workstring and rig surface equipment, the DHPT enhances safety and operations efficiency by allowing the elimination of frictional forces that occur due to wellbore geometry, such as sections of high dogleg severity and deviation. It also facilitates use of smaller rigs and reduced tensile strength on the workstring—expanding their respective capabilities while lowering overall costs and rig footprint. By deploying the DHPT closer to the stuck point, recovery capabilities are enhanced.
This modular, multifunction cement-through, casing-removal system features a unified bottomhole assembly (BHA). This unique combination allows for many time- and trip-saving benefits that include setting and testing bridge plugs, cement placements, dressing/tagging, and cutting casings all in a single trip. This powerful arrangement not only reduces operational time and expense, it also eliminates extra downhole trips for enhanced HSE benefits and less personnel exposure in the redzone.
Typhoon is a next-generation casing rotational spear with mechanical- and flow-release mechanisms with no grapples to break or slip. The FRM spear functions as a standalone alternative to conventional casing spears.
