AlphaV™ Single-Trip Casing-Exit System and AccuView® real-time remote support
enabled Equinor to exit 13 3/8-in. casing in adverse wellbore conditions with enhanced efficiency and reliability
Objectives
Exit 13 3/8-in. casing in a deviated well in a single trip after previous plug and abandonment operations.
Eliminate the need of a dedicated wellbore preparation run.
Increase the tripping speed while running in hole.
Provide a permanent installation with a secondary abandonment barrier.
Our Approach
Weatherford recommended Equinor run the AlphaV system with an integral scraper assembly to ensure a clean setting area prior to setting the whipstock and avoid additional cleanup trips prior to installing the whipstock.
To deliver high-torque and load-bearing capabilities needed to perform cleanup operation in the same run and to increase tripping speeds, the exclusive AlphaV was selected.
The AlphaV system enhances safety in tripping operations when abrupt workstring movement can cause premature shear release of the whipstock assembly.
AccuView was used to plan and manage casing exit operations. In addition, the AccuView software provided collaboration and support between Weatherford experts and the wellsite in real-time.
Value to Customer
The integral full-coverage scraper in the AlphaV system enabled Equinor to clean and scrape the setting area in the same trip prior to setting the whipstock.
The retractable pin within the patented HMR system, combined with its rigid, millable collar, allowed Equinor to increase trip speed without fear of accidental shear-off.
Equinor was able to exit 13 3/8-in. casing in a single trip with minimal loss of gauge to the mills.
Drilling BHA passed the window without any restriction ensuring the quality and reliability of the sidetrack.
The AccuView software contributed significantly to the efficiency of the casing-exit operation by allowing remote data monitoring, enabling subject-matter experts to make critical, real-time decisions.
Due to unplanned changes in the mud parameters, the secondary mechanical release of the AlphaV system was utilized to avoid an additional trip.
