We are pleased to announce the newest CygNet software release. CygNet v9.9 is now available from the CygNet Software download site for installation or upgrade. CygNet v9.9 contains several new features, enhancements, and updates; the most significant are listed below.

See the CygNet v9.9 Release Notes for a complete list of all changes.

CygNet Measurement and Dispatch

  • Added a new Command Queue feature in FMS Explorer to provide insight into command processing activity and provide expanded command management options
  • Added a new Liquid Configuration report to support viewing and publishing of config data for liquid devices
  • Improved performance for database upgrades from pre-v9.8 versions for liquid device data
  • Improved performance and efficiency of the Update Normalization Views commands when writing to the database
  • Expanded support for “Daily” or “Native” record span options when configuring variable job schedules via FMS Explorer for users of CygNet Dispatch
  • Improved Detect New Devices commands configuration, expanded facility filtering for device identification, and improved command log messaging

CygNet Core (Replication, Messaging, Client Security, 64-bit Utilities)

  • A significant reduction in full resync times for replicated database services, e.g., a PNT with 200K points now completes the full resync in under 40 seconds! (down from 40 minutes)
  • Optimized service messaging to enhance performance and reduce the impact of network latency
  • Updated the Telerik UI for WPF libraries (used by Canvas, CygNet Explorer, and Dispatch) to the latest version to prevent security vulnerabilities
  • Added a new 64-bit Facility Import/Export utility to support modern system configurations

CygNet Comm and Remote Devices

  • Improved MQTT Comm EIE message handling, more robust comm message queueing, allowing comm tuning and memory management, and enhanced logging and statistics
  • Added a new IoT CygNet Link EIE to enable bidirectional communication between CygNet and remote field devices via Weatherford Link and MQTT Sparkplug using the standard CygNet data group transaction / UIS command access model
  • The Totalflow EIE now supports Enhanced meter mode for AGA3, AGA7, and API Linear Liquid meters, features include:
    • Added data group elements to configure and monitor enhanced mode configuration and calculations, alarm thresholds, general information, and other attributes to handle Undefined alarm configuration parameters
    • Added a History - Alarm Log Enhanced data group to manage information from enhanced alarm logs
    • The FMS Alarms data group uses the new History - Alarm Log Enhanced data group to get alarm data for meters enabled with enhanced mode
    • Added a data group element to History - Log Period to retrieve Indicated Volume for AGA7 and API Liquid applications only
    • Updated sample TotalFlow_G4.dtf is available
    • Updated Totalflow EIE to use ABB Totalflow toolkit API v3.16
  • Other updates to Allen Bradley CIP, DNP3 Emerson and Lufkin SAM EIEs to improve configurability, usability, polling, templates options, and data quality

  • CygNet OPC UA Server is now updated and exposes real-time and historical CygNet data
  • CygNet OPC UA Client Service transfers real-time values into a CygNet CVS
  • CygNet OPC UA Config Manager is a web-based application for easy configuration
  • CygNet OPC UA Web API provides programmatic access and integration
  • Launching April 30, 2025
  • Requires separate licensing + CygNet Bridge v4.8

CygNet Well Test Module

  • CygNet Well Test Service now runs as a 64-bit service, adding stability and scalability
  • Added support for up to 1,000 simultaneous well tests
  • Improved Well Test actions to execute more efficiently
  • Added dynamic sequencing of wells in a header based on UDC values or setpoints
  • Improved operational efficiency and storage of header queues and well test results in VHS blobs, improving interaction with associated CVS and PNT
  • More detailed and useful logging with up to 10 log files created
  • Updated Well Test sample screens to match enhancements, improve usability, and operate more efficiently
