We are pleased to announce the release of CygNet’s OPC UA Server 1.0, now offering another way to access CygNet data over the web. The OPC UA server communicates with a CygNet system to request and receive data via encrypted communication channels using our intermediary REST API application, CygNet Bridge API. The CygNet OPC UA Server 1.0 operates with CygNet v9.5 and CygNet Bridge v4.4.121.
We are pleased to announce the release of CygNet’s native OPC UA (Unified Architecture) Server 1.0, now offering another way to access CygNet data over the web. The new CygNet OPC UA Server exposes real-time, historical, and alarm data to an OPC UA client application using the OPC UA version 1.04 specification. OPC UA is a secure, open, reliable mechanism for transferring information between OPC UA servers and clients.
Our OPC UA server communicates with a CygNet system to request and receive data via encrypted communication channels using our intermediary REST API application, CygNet Bridge API.
Security is integral to OPC UA and our server supports a sophisticated security model that supports the authentication of users, authentication of client and servers, and the integrity of communication channels and shared data. OPC UA communication across the OPC UA Server, CygNet Bridge, and CygNet channels is encrypted ensuring secure and safe transmission of your data.
The OPC UA server is easy to configure via an xml file where you configure the Bridge authentication credentials, password encryption, certificate stores, logging settings, and display name options for your CygNet nodes.
The OPC UA Server requires an address space to define the CygNet data to be shared. This is easily and quickly generated via the provided model builder script, installed along with the CygNet OPC UA Server application. This script must be executed when the CygNet OPC UA Server is first set up, and then scheduled to run every time changes are made to the CygNet system that you want exposed in OPC UA (such as adding or removing points or facilities, making changes to metadata, etc.).

A supplementary alarm sample application is also provided to demonstrate subscribing to the CygNet OPC UA Server to receive CygNetAlarm notifications.

The OPC UA Server is now available for download from the CygNet Download Site. You do need a CygNet OPC UA license to run the server, but you don’t need a CygNet Bridge license.
Contact your Account Manager or CygNet Sales about licensing.
User documentation for the CygNet OPC UA Server is available here.
